As I am sure a lot of you have read or heard by now domain development company DevRich has been acquired by Epik. I know I speak for everyone on both sides of this acquisition we could not be happier.
What does this acquisition mean for you, our client? The acquisition and integration into Epik means stronger more capable domain development company with a full domain life cycle approach. In other words, we can now help you with a complete solution — everything from (1) picking the right domain to (2) developing a turnkey SEO Optimized high Page Ranking product portal, directory, video portal, blog, e-commerce website or an entire portfolio, to (3) selling a developed website to a strategic buyer.
I first met Rob Monster via a blog post/comment session. We kept in touch. This led to a natural progression of friendship and mutual respect for one another’s ambitions and vision. An on-site visit to our offices further solidified what was an ad hoc partnership. Rob and I both play with “cards on the table” which made it easy to find win-wins.
As the logic of a tie-up with Epik became more obvious, I switched gears and went full speed ahead in mapping out a blueprint for successfully building out custom websites on a massive scale with limited or no real requirements from the domain owner — a system where we (Epik / DevRich) will do all of the heavy lifting. In any business it’s important to know your client. Let’s face it most Domainers don’t want to be developers. They want developed sites that require no more effort than Parking. That’s where the DevRich solution delivers.
In order to even take on such a task I put my life on hold for an entire month. I had what I call one of my “Howard Hughes” moments where I isolate myself into a cocoon take in all the info I can then roadmap the logical progression of such information and derive the solution with the highest rate of return and probability for success.
Shortly after the roadmap was final it was obvious that I needed a CTO. I turned to an old friend Branden Barnes and made him a vested partner. Within a short period of time my vision became his code. DevBot v1.5 was born. It was amazing to see this product take shape and even more rewarding to see it put into production, generating great looking sites at an amazing rate while automating countless manual tasks.
All that brings us to last month… It is true the internet is evolving. It is evolving at a mind numbing pace with amazing opportunities and countless potholes. I had taken DevRich into some really cool areas. We managed to avoid the potholes by being honest with ourselves and our clients.
Epik’s offer came at the right time. Brandon and I have a ton of respect for the entire Epik team. That made it an easy decision as we both knew that the synergies were obvious, and the team chemistry was tested. It was a natural progression for DevRich to be acquired by Epik. Looking back on the last year and I could not imagine a better fit or a better outcome.
